National Climate Action Framework |
The Nature Conservation Council has announced a new framework for national action on climate change.
Climate
change is the greatest environmental threat, challenge and opportunity
ever to face humanity. In light of new science on climate change, with
observed changes outstripping even the most dire projections by the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, it is time to step up the
action. Read our position paper,
which proposes turning around our emissions by 2010, halving
Australia's 1990 emissions by 2020 and aiming for national carbon
neutrality by 2040.

Solar School - Pittwater High, NSW |
This adventurous project will involve setting up one thousand solar panels to power the school. Pittwater High would become a power station through energy self-sufficiency using the renewable energy of the sun.
Our immediate goal has been reached in setting up 72 panels providing roughly enough energy to power 10 classrooms all year round
or 3 family sized homes. We are aiming to buid on this by 200 - 250
panels each year.
If a school can reduce its carbon footprint and become renewable energy self-sufficient then so can a hospital, a factory, a multi-storey building, a shopping centre or any carbon sourced power user.

Cycle 4 Climate Protection |
Climate Action Groups across the country have proposed the Climate Protection Bill - a comprehensive plan to cut Australia's spiralling greenhouse pollution. The new climate change minister has refused to discuss the Bill, however, so we're taking the bill to her at Parliament House with a 3 day cycle from Sydney to Parliament House in Canberra.
